There is a widespread belief that having a great career, a wonderful family, and social respect and network is the ideal life. However, we have all too quickly learned that many people can boast about having a great job, a wonderful family, and social accolades, but they are far from happy in life. They have the feeling that something is missing in their lives when they wake up. Yeah, something is missing and that which is missing is central to life and the joy of living.
Take a look at this study from the University of California, which was recently published in the Journal of Clinical Psychiatry and covered by CNBC Make It. It was discovered that having a firm grasp on the meaning of one's life improves one's physical and mental health. Additionally, the person's cognitive function is improved. This demonstrates the importance of finding meaning in life, as acquiring the entire world would be even more depressing without it.
Many people today are driven by aspirations and dreams forged on the anvil of our formative experiences and exposure. Others exist solely for the purpose of experiencing pleasure and other emotions. Some exist solely to pay their bills. As a result, their motivation to get up every morning is to be able to earn money and pay bills. You will agree with me that it can be depressing to live life for the mere sake of prolonging existence.
The question of life's meaning isn't so much about what makes a life happy as it is about what makes a life fulfilled. Fulfilment can bring unimaginable happiness. Fulfilment may sound intimidating, but it simply means completing the tasks for which I was created on this planet. Remember that each of us is unique (even down to our fingerprints). Our uniqueness indicates that we are a solution to something specific on Earth, just as every lock has a specially designed key to open it.
When it comes to fulfilment, it's important to remember that a successful career, the purchase of a beautiful home, or the success of a business can only provide temporary happiness. Could it be that such accomplishments are disconnected from life’s meaning and therefore, they do not contribute to our fulfilment? James Allen (the British philosophical writer and the pioneer of the self-help movement) said, “Until thought is linked with purpose, there can never be an intelligent accomplishment.” James Allen nailed the issue at the core by indicating that life’s activities or actions all begin with thoughts. As a result, unless one's life meaning or purpose is established, no action will result in intelligent accomplishment. However, I will rather say that without purpose man cannot accomplish anything fulfilling.
Here's the rub: you can't have fulfilment without a purpose, but you can't have a purpose without a purpose giver. There are three factors at play here: Purpose-Giver, Purpose, and Fulfilment.
The Purpose Giver
There is a solution (possibly) for everything, but where there is a solution, there is also the person who engineered it. If each of us is unique and a solution in this life (the reason we were created), then someone must have created you as unique and a solution in this life. You might wonder if you’re truly unique. Yes, you are. Your DNA, for example, is what keeps your body ticking, and every human being has a genome that is unique in its way. This is one of the reasons you are not a clone. Furthermore, your large intestine contains a microbiome ecosystem (billions of bacteria cells). The microbiome in our intestines is unique to each person, and these bacteria perform a variety of functions. Isn’t this amazing? Your fingerprints are unique to you, and no two eyes have the same iris pattern, according to research. Your tongue and ears are both one-of-a-kinds. Who could have completed the arduous task of making each of the 7 billion humans on the planet so distinct?
What do the Holy Scriptures Say?
(Genesis 1:1) "In the beginning, God..." There was a God before the beginning of time. To begin with, according to Scripture, God created everything. God was the originator of life on Earth. He created it, encoding life with all of its algorithms so that all subsequent lives born from that first life would be able to reproduce and populate the earth with a unique.
Not only that, but God tells us that He knew each of us before we were formed in the womb and that He set us apart (or distinguished us) before we were born. God also ordained (appointed, assigned, and appointed) us for the nations (Jeremiah 1:5), according to the Holy Scriptures. "Does God know who I am?" you may wonder. You have no idea what God is capable of revealing to you about yourself as well as Himself. Do you want God to make Himself known to you? Is your answer a resounding yes? Are you sincere in your intentions? Say the following simple prayer to God with sincerity:
Dear Lord Jesus, if You are who the Bible says You are,
Please let me know who You are in any way You want.
Thank you Jesus
(Now expect a remarkable encounter with Jesus Christ)
God is the source of life. The One who created your life understands why He created it. Knowing the source of life is the first step toward understanding your life's purpose. Furthermore, to live and function properly, man, who was created by God and in the image of God, requires God to be at the centre of his or her being. As a result, God is the only one who can fill the void within us. It cannot be filled with money, sex, drugs, prestige, or fame.
Who is God?
The only entity in existence, the reason for whose existence is in Himself. God’s existence is self-dependent, self-sufficient and uncaused. For centuries, there have been several attempts to point to God. I'm not going to go into detail about those attempts. However, only one person, Jesus Christ, has proven His divinity throughout the centuries.
C.S. Lewis (an atheist who finally came to trust Jesus Christ with his life) wrote this in his book ‘Mere Christianity’ about Jesus Christ declaring forgiveness to a sinful woman and a paralytic (Luke 5: 20; Luke 7:48), “I mean the claim to forgive sins; any sins. Now unless the speaker is God, this is preposterous as to be comic. We can all understand how a man forgives offences against himself. You tread on my toe and I forgive you, you steal my money and I forgive you. But what should we make of a man, himself unrobbed and untrodden on, who announced that he forgave you for treading on other men’s toes and stealing other men’s money? Asinine fatuity is the kindest description we should give to his conduct. Yet this is what Jesus did. He told people that their sins were forgiven, and never waited to consult all the other people whom their sins had undoubtedly injured.” Some of Jesus' statements were difficult for people to comprehend back then. The struggles of modern minds are similar. C.S. Lewis went on to say that even those who struggle to accept Jesus as God and instead prefer to accept Him as a moral teacher miss the point – that if it isn't God who can say such things, then the only option is to dismiss Him as a lunatic. The following are a few of them:
- I am the resurrection and the life…. (John 11:25)
- I am the bread of life. (John 6:48)
- I have the power to lay down my life and I have the power to take it again (John 10:17)
- I am the Way, the truth and the Life (John 14:6)
- All power in heaven and earth is given unto me (John 14:6)
- Because I live you shall live also (John 14:19)
- He claimed to have existed before the patriarchs and the early men of time (John 8:58)
"Now it seems to me that Jesus was neither a lunatic nor a fiend; however strange, terrifying, or unlikely it may seem, I have to accept the view that He was, and is God," Prof. Lewis concludes.
Precious One, Jesus is the only One you can trust with your life and you can assuredly experience true peace and an in-filling of the void within. He is the one who must reside at the core of your being for you to be complete and capable of reaching your full potential.

The Purpose
There is a reason why we are here. We were created to contribute, not to take, meaning that our lives should add to (or contribute to the overall meaning for which the earth was created and given to mankind). The quality of life is not measured in how long but in how meaningful one lives. As a result, it is not about how much you can get in life, but rather how much you can give. It's not about how much you can accumulate, but rather how much you can share. Jesus lived for thirty-three years on earth, but his impact has lasted for more than two millennia. Rick Warren would say that what matters is not the duration of your life but the donation of it.
We've established that God created our DNA cocktail with care and purpose, which is why you and I are so different. But what is the point of being one-of-a-kind?
God, who created us, has also equipped us in such a way that we can examine ourselves and gain a better understanding of our purpose. The following are some of the ways God has equipped us:
- Spiritual Equipping:
When we come to God to trust Him with our lives, we can receive His Spirit to fill the void within. His Spirit filling us is also one way we are equipped. You might wonder how. We can access spiritual gifts – gifts that are supernatural in their manifestation – as we receive God's Spirit to indwell us. Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12:7, "The manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit with all." This is why committing your life to Jesus and asking Him to fill you with His Holy Spirit is so important. If you want to surrender your life to Jesus and receive His Holy Spirit, click here.
Prophecy, healing, working of miracles, discernment, wisdom, and faith are just a few of the spiritual gifts available. Healing, miracles, wisdom, and men of faith are all needed in today's world to help many people find hope and joy. Our spiritual gifts can help us figure out what we're supposed to be doing with our lives.
- Equipping of Our Heart: You know that the holy scripture indicates that out of the heart are the issues of life. Examining our hearts can reveal a lot about what God has put in us to pursue purpose. Proverbs 27:19 – As in water face answers to face, so the heart of man to man. When we look into water, we see our own reflection. Similarly, the scripture admonishes us that if we look into our hearts, we will see ourselves. God has equipped us for purpose deep within our hearts, and if we look closely, we can find the following:
- The things that irritate you are some of the things God has created you to change.
As a result, the fact that those things irritate you is due to something within you responding to a desire to see a better version. Why doesn't it irritate that person, you might wonder. He appears to be unconcerned about it, but you are not. You were born to alter those circumstances. So, starting today, don't just become irritated. Change those things and have a positive influence on those who irritate you.
- Some of the things God has purposed you to do are the things in which you naturally have a strong interest or love (such as helping people, accounting, empowering people, and so on). According to God's word, "Then shall you remember the Lord your God, for it is He who gives you the power (ideas, vehicle, opportunities, network) to create wealth (Deut 8:18)," making money to financially empower others could even be one's purpose. Our hobbies, passions, and interests can reveal a lot about what God wants us to do with our lives.
- The things that irritate you are some of the things God has created you to change.
- Equipped with Talents:
Talents were given to us to guide us purposely. Talents must be nurtured, but they must also be put to good use to honour God and serve humanity. God's way of equipping us to be purposeful is through our ability to sing, play instruments, talk, etc. What talents do you have? They're hints as to what you were meant to do on this planet without having to struggle.
- Equipped By Experience:
Our life experiences can sometimes provide us with the tools we need to accomplish great things. Moses' personal experiences as a learned prince of Egypt and a shepherd in the land of Midian shaped his purpose, according to the Holy Scriptures. David's shepherding experience prepared him to be a great king. Joseph's family's betrayal set him on the path to his ultimate purpose.
Fanny Crosby's life experience exemplifies how life experience can aid in the discovery of purpose. She was born in 1820 but lost her eyes at the age of six weeks. At the age of six months, she lost her father and was raised by her grandmother. Fanny learned to play the piano, organ, harp, and guitar despite being blind. She didn’t see her life circumstances as a tragedy but as a pointer to purpose. Fanny is best known today as an American missionary, poet, lyricist, and composer. Despite her blindness, she became a prolific hymn writer, composing over 8,000 hymns and gospel songs that have sold over 100 million copies. Most of her hymns, including "Blessed Assurance," still provide strength and hope to hurting people and those who are desperate and struggling today.
Fulfilment
Christian Larson, in his book The Pathway of Roses, states that life in the real is so large and immensely rich; it will take an eternity to spend it all. Yeah, our lives are truly large and immensely rich such that we have no choice but to make an impact. Apostle Paul, at the end of his life, boldly declared, “I have fought a good fight; I have finished my course; I have kept the faith…” - 2 Timothy 4:7. Life is a journey that must be completed and a battle that must be won (living above all human and demonic limitations to be the solution you were created to be). The truths of life are a faith that we must maintain by living them out. Why should one live life to the end of it only to realise that he has spent his entire life as a round peg in a square hole?
We are well able to live and make a tremendous impact on our generation. We can live life and enjoy it because we are the solution to the challenges of this world. You are a solution.
Conclusion
I am confident that this article will provide you with the clarity you require to pursue your life's purpose and achieve the fulfilment we all seek.
God bless you
