hOLY SPIRIT 1 editIn the Bible, the Holy Spirit is mentioned many times, and amongst Christians both today and in the past, the Holy Spirit has not been a secret. It is not possible to live the Christian faith as Jesus lived it until you have received the gift of the Holy Spirit.

Interestingly, Jesus never did anything meaningful while He walked the face of the earth until He had received the Holy Spirit. This suggests that without the Holy Spirit, it is not worth attempting to walk as Jesus walked. I have heard of many people turning back from the Christian faith because it is a difficult life to live. Indeed, some have left the faith, saying that it is not possible to live up to the life that Jesus assigned to the believer.

As a new believer or a continuing believer, one thing has to be clear to us – without the Holy Spirit of God, we can do nothing (John 15:5). The faith that we have received is a spiritual one, not a mental one. Further, the Christian faith is the very lifestyle of God. It is His way of being. The Holy Spirit of God is the Operating System (OS) needed in our lives to run this life of God in us. Any Christian without the Spirit is far from living the greater and superior life—the life eternal.

I am suggesting to you that the Holy Spirit is the most important person in the life of a believer. The extent to which we will manifest our full potential as a people of the God-kind is very much dependent on how much we value the Holy Spirit, cooperate with Him, rely on Him, follow Him and honour Him. So then, who is the Holy Spirit?
