THEME: THE FADING GRASS AND THE ETERNAL GOD
THEME SCRIPTURE: "Do not fret because of evildoers, Nor be envious of the workers of iniquity." Psalm 37:1 NKJV
PREPARATORY QUESTION
1. Why do the righteous sometimes get envious of the prosperity of the wicked?
The wicked may flourish like spring grass—lush today, but withered tomorrow (Psa 37:2). Their "success" is a mirage. As Charles Spurgeon warned, "The glitter of evil is but the spark before the explosion." When corrupt men, dishonest and shrewd businessmen, or godless celebrities seem to thrive, remember: God measures prosperity by eternal scales, not earthly bank balances (Matthew 6:19-20).
Jesus told of a wealthy man who built bigger barns for his harvest but died unprepared (Luke 12:16-20). His legacy? "This night your soul is required of you" (Luke 12:20). Contrast this with Paul—beaten, shipwrecked, yet radiant in prison: "I have learned the secret of contentment" (Phil 4:12). One life faded like grass; the other still bears fruit 2,000 years later.
Beloved, anchor your life in Christ, and you wouldn't be envious at all of the wicked.
First, trust in Him actively (Psa 37:3). The Hebrew word "batach" means "to lean your full weight on." Like a child jumping into a father’s arms, abandon anxiety to God. Trusting God is your security.
Additionally, do good defiantly (Psa 37:3). When evil seems rewarded, "overcome evil with good" (Rom 12:21). Corrie ten Boom forgave Nazi guards who ill-treated her. Her love outlasted their hate.
Lastly, delight in Him obsessively (Psa 37:4). The Hebrew word "anag" implies "to be soft and pliable" in God’s hands. Delight rewires desires. Glory to God!
This is God's warning to the wicked: Belshazzar feasted while Babylon fell (Daniel 5). His fatal error? "You praised gods of silver and gold... but did not honor the God who holds your breath" (Dan 5:23). Temporal power cannot ransom eternal souls (Mark 8:36).
But this is God's promise to the faithful:
God’s "heart’s desires" in you (Psa 37:4) aren’t whims—they’re sanctified longings He planted. The One who planted those desires in you is also able to fulfill them all. Your obedience today seeds tomorrow’s harvest (Isa 1:19).
Remain blessed.

PRAYER
Father, when envy whispers, deafen me with Your love. When wickedness prospers, steady me with Your sovereignty. I trade grass for glory, today’s applause for Your "well done.", in Jesus' precious name. Hallelujah!
