TOPIC: "REFLECTING THE TRUTH"

THEME SCRIPTURE: "But whoso looketh into the perfect law of liberty, and continueth therein, he being not a forgetful hearer, but a doer of the work, this man shall be blessed in his deed." James 1:25 KJV

 PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:

1. How can we experience transformation through our engagement with Scripture?

Have you rolled out of bed lately and you looked into the mirror, and for a second you thought it wasn't you? Your face looked battered. With the women, their hairs would be pointing towards different directions, as though they just witnessed an explosion. Less should be said about our morning breath. Mirrors don't reflect odors, thankfully. In the mirror, the mess is noticeable but do we just walk away after standing in front of it? Of course not.

You make adjustments—brush your hair, wash your face, and freshen up—because you want to face the day looking presentable.

In a similar way, the Bible acts as a mirror, but it reflects something much deeper: our hearts.  James 1:22-25 tells us that when we look into God’s Word, we should respond just as we would to our reflection in the mirror. We see where change is needed, but how often do we simply read the Scriptures and walk away unchanged? It's easy to fall into the habit of reading without applying.

Ezra sets a great example for us in how to engage with God’s Word. In Ezra 7:10, it says, "Ezra had determined to study and obey the Law of the LORD and to teach those decrees and regulations to the people of Israel." Beloved, this verse gives us four important ways to reflect the truth of God’s Word in our lives.

First, make a personal commitment because every transformation starts with a decision.

You have to make up your mind to commit to God and His Word. No one grows in their faith without first deciding to take it seriously. When you choose to seek God’s will, that decision will begin to shape your life in ways you can’t imagine.

Secondly, become a diligent student of Scripture.

Just as Ezra was committed to studying God’s Word, we too must make time to read and understand the Bible. We should treat our time in Scripture with the same focus and dedication we give to looking in the mirror. It’s not just about reading—it's about letting God's Word guide us, shape us, and help us grow.

Thirdly, put the truth into action.

Knowledge of the truth is only valuable when we live it out. Ezra didn’t just study the law; he chose to obey it. Real change happens when we apply what we’ve learned. Obedience isn’t just about knowing what to do; it’s about demonstrating it through our actions. When we live according to the truth, transformation takes place in our hearts.

Lastly, share the truth with others.

Ezra didn’t keep what he learned to himself. He shared it with the people of Israel. When you share the truth with others—whether through teaching, encouragement, or simple conversation—you reinforce that truth in your own life. One of the best ways to grow in your faith is to pass on what you’ve learned to others.

Today, take a moment to reflect on God’s Word as a mirror. Let it reveal what needs to change in your heart and life. Then make a personal commitment to study it, obey it, and share it with others. As you do, you’ll begin to live out the truth, and that transformation will reflect God’s love and grace to the world.

Remain blessed

QUESTION TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:

1. Are you reflecting on the Word of God daily or you are struggling to walk in it?

PRAYER

Precious Lord, help me to see myself through Your Word. Give me the commitment to study and obey Your truth, and the boldness to share it with others. May my life reflect the change You are working in me, and may I live out Your Word in everything I do, in Jesus' precious name. Hallelujah!
