Theme: THE THRONE OF GRACE
THEME SCRIPTURE: "Let us therefore draw near with boldness unto the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy, and may find grace to help us in time of need." Hebrews 4:16 ASV
PREPARATORY QUESTION
- How are we to approach God's throne of grace?
Elkanah had married two wives, and the stress of polygamy began to take its toll on Hannah because she was not having children. Peninnah, having had many children, was doing all she could to frustrate Hannah. The reason was that Elkanah loved Hannah more, and he continued to console her all the time.
Beloved, there are times when good people struggle to get simple things. Hannah was dearly loved but yet she could not bring forth. Peninnah had children but not the husband's love. There could be rich people who have all it takes to care for a child but are childless. Or precious women who are chaste but struggling to settle down.
Similarly, Adam was permitted to eat of every tree in the garden, but one tree was withheld from him. Some things may come to you easily by reason of your IQ, parental status, or by your association. However, some other things will come to you because you approached the throne, and that is what Hannah did.
The grief of a childless woman drove Hannah to God, and there she found her only resource. She had done what she could; it was time to let God take charge. Until you are exhausted with your effort, God's effort does not kick in. Hannah went to God alone to pour out her heart. Elkanah's love may be soothing but not enough to cure the need of a childless woman. If we want a cure for our needs, we must leave our comfort zones and go tread the winepress alone. After they had eaten in Shiloh, and after they had drunk, Hannah rose up (1 Samuel 1:9) and went to the temple to make her case before Him who is able to do all things.
Beloved, when you have washed your face, anointed your head, and eaten with friends and family, so they may not guess the anguish of your soul, you must have a place where you can be naked with your struggles and challenges. There is no better place than the throne of grace. Our theme scripture encourages us to draw near with boldness to the throne of grace. Yes, boldness or absolute confidence that, from His throne, we will take His mercy with us and find His grace to help us in times of need.
Precious one, do you need His mercy to jump out of a pressing need? Approach the throne. Do you need His manifold grace to climb mountains that would not move? Approach the throne. Are you exhausted and need His help to cross rivers that will not disappear? Approach the throne of grace with all boldness today, and your situation will never be the same again. God bless you more.

QUESTION TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
- Why do we often resort to our own effort for a long time without considering God's mercies and grace?
PRAYER
Abba (Father), all things are possible unto you. Hence, I obtain your mercy this day and your grace to overcome every challenge in my life. I affirm that your grace is sufficient for me, and I see you doing exceedingly, abundantly above all I could think or imagine. Thank you, Father, in Jesus' precious name. Hallelujah!
