TOPIC: THE WORD IS ALL YOU EVER NEEDED
THEME SCRIPTURE: “And He humbled you, and suffered you to hunger, and fed you with manna, which you knew not, neither did your fathers know; that he might make you know that man shall not live by bread only, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth the Lord do man lives” – Deuteronomy 8:3
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Can man live without food?
- Can man live without God and His word?
John the Apostle had walked with Jesus, eaten with Him, and traveled with Him. He touched Him, spoke to Him and heard Him teach. Yet when He had the opportunity to write about his experience of the Christ, he referred to Him as the Word and pointed out: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God (John 1:1). This Word was in the beginning already existing with God (John 1:2), so that all things were made by Him (John 1:3). This is exactly what the writer of Hebrews confirmed when he wrote, “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear” (Heb 11:3). Thus, through the medium of faith, we are able to comprehend that, matter and life originated from God’s Word. This is why, beloved, by pushing aside scripture, science is struggling to establish the origin of human life and the universe intelligibly.
Precious one, if the things that are seen were not made of matter (or things that are visible) but the spoken word of God, then the Word can frame or produce anything out of nothing.
Jesus entered Peter’s boat and taught the people from it (Luke 5:3). When He was done, He spoke to Simon Peter to launch out into the deep and let down his nets for a catch (Luke 5:4). Peter, being a master fisherman, politely indicated to Jesus that the whole night (the best time to cast the nets) they caught nothing (Luke 5:5), and how much more the daytime. Nevertheless, Peter said, “At your word, I will let down the nets” (Luke 5:6). Upon acting on Jesus’ word, they enclosed a great multitude of fish, such that their nets began to break (Luke 6:6). The critical question is this: “Where did the fishes come from?” At another time, Jesus was accused of not paying temple tribute (Matt 17:24). In order not to offend the authorities, Jesus instructed Peter to go to the sea and cast a hook into it. Then He said to him, “The first fish that comes up, when you open its mouth, you will find a shekel. Take that and give it to them for you and me” (Matt 17:27). How did this shekel get into the mouth of this fish in the sea, and how is it that it was this fish that first approached Peter’s hook?
Beloved, the Word created all things, and in Him (the Word) was life, and the life was the light of men (John 1:4). If Jesus needed fishes to come into Peter’s net, His words are enough.
A centurion came to Jesus because his servant was dying. Knowing Jesus, he said, "...speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed" (Matt 8:8). The Word does not need suitable conditions or the factors of production to create what is not there. The Word has life in Himself to give life to, or create a thing out of nothing. So, go for the Word because He can make possible in your life what is impossible with man. Go for the Word because he who has the Word has Him who created the worlds out of nothing. Go for the Word because in Him is life eternal (the Godkind life), and this life is the true light of life. One word from God is able to contain an entire life-changing formula. Precious one, the Word is Jesus, and He is all that you ever needed. Again, I say to you, “Go for the Word.” Remain blessed.
