TOPIC: THE GATE AND THE SHEPHERD
THEME SCRIPTURE: “I am the gate; whoever enters through Me will be saved. They will come in and go out and find pasture.” — John 10:9
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What does it mean for the Shepherd to be the Gate also?
In this simple yet powerful metaphor, Jesus describes Himself not just as the Shepherd, but as the Gate. He is both protector and passage. The gate keeps danger out and provides safe entry into life-giving pasture. Through Him, we find salvation, security, and sustenance.
Notice the promise: “They will come in and go out and find pasture.” In ancient times, sheep passing through the gate into the fold found safety from predators.
When led out, they were guided to nourishment under the shepherd’s care. Jesus offers both protection and provision.
Many try to enter life through other gates—success, religion, approval, or self-effort—but only Christ gives true life. He alone opens the way to the Father (John 14:6), and He alone satisfies the soul.
The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.” — John 10:10
Until we enter through Christ, we remain restless, vulnerable, and malnourished. But once through the Gate, we find what no world system can offer: rest, joy, and peace. Enter through the Gate today and find what your soul needs.
Remain blessed.

Jesus, You are my Gate. I enter through You alone. Keep me from false paths and fill me with the life You promise—safe, full, and free. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
