TOPIC: WHEN JESUS STOPS FOR YOU
THEME SCRIPTURE: “The Lord is near to all who call on Him, to all who call on Him in truth.” — Psalm 145:18
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Does God care when we pray to Him?
- Why then must we pray over and over again?
As Jesus was leaving Jericho, surrounded by a pressing crowd, two blind men cried out above the noise, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!” Though others tried to silence them, their cries only grew louder. And then— Jesus stopped.
This moment captures a truth that should steady every heart: Jesus hears the cry of those who seek Him earnestly. Amid the chaos of the world, He is never too busy to stop for you.
Saint Augustine once wrote, “God loves each of us as if there were only one of us.”
The cries of the blind men were not lost in the multitude, and neither are yours. Christ does not respond to volume, but to faith. He stops when hearts persist beyond discouragement, when souls refuse to let go until they receive His touch.
These men teach us two vital principles:
- Seek Jesus with determination. They refused to be silenced. Likewise, your faith must not depend on convenience or approval. Prayer that moves heaven is often a prayer that endures opposition.
- Expect Jesus to stop for you. Their persistence drew His presence. He asked, “What do you want me to do for you?”—an invitation for intimacy and trust. Christ’s question still echoes today: What do you really desire Me to do in your life?
John Chrysostom noted, “Prayer is the root, the fountain, the mother of a thousand blessings.”
When we cry out to Jesus, we are not trying to get His attention—we already have it. We are aligning our hearts with His willingness to heal, to restore, and to save.
Beloved, what can we do to get the Master to stop for us?
- Set aside a specific time daily to call on Jesus by name—no requests, just sincere conversation.
- Write down moments when you sense His response or comfort; review them (or go back to them) when faith feels weak.
- Encourage another believer to persist in prayer; remind them that Jesus still stops for those who call in faith. Your encouragement to others will always encourage you too.
Know this: Jesus Christ is not distant or distracted. He is the same compassionate Savior who stops for those who cry for mercy. Your voice matters to Him.
Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- What situations in your life tempt you to stop calling on Jesus?
- When you pray, do you believe He truly hears and will respond personally?
- What “crowd” of distractions or doubts might be trying to silence your cry for mercy?
PRAYER
Lord Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me. Help me to seek You with unwavering faith and to trust that You hear my cry. Silence the noise of fear and discouragement, and open my eyes to see Your compassion at work in my life. Thank You for stopping for me, even when others overlook me. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
