TOPIC: THYATIRA: THE PERILS OF SPIRITUAL CORRUPTION
THEME SCRIPTURE: “But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel...” — Revelation 2:20 (ESV)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
1. How are believers tolerating that woman Jezebel?
When it came to Thyatira, Jesus did not hesitate to appropriate the sublime title-- the Son of God. His eyes penetrate the profoundest secrets, and His advent leaves a trail of purity like fire behind Him. Jesus recognises the many good qualities of this church. Thyatira was commended for its love and service, yet criticized for tolerating false teachings that led believers astray.
The so-called prophetess " Jezebel" promoted practices contrary to God's commands, leading many into spiritual adultery or corruption. The prophetess Jezebel is today's spirit of some prophetic ministries that have no regard for holiness but just prophetic entertainment.
Many good Christians have compromised holy living. Others have also been exploited, abused, or taken advantage of.
Yeah, professing servants of Christ have been led into complicity with the outward corruption of heathendom. Right before our eyes, are evident attempts to graft onto Christianity the mysteries of darkness, witchcraft, soothsaying, necromancy, etc. The very things which have always been in direct antagonism to the purity of the teaching of Christ, and called "deep revelations" of the Holy Spirit. Yet fornication and adultery are spreading like wildfire among professing believers, receiving such deep revelation
True love does not tolerate falsehood. As believers, we must confront falsehood with grace, ensuring that our lives, churches, and communities remain anchored in sound doctrine.
To those who have not embraced the spirit of Jezebel and false teachings: hold fast to the truth. Be determined never to be deterred. Your discernment and commitment are vital to the health of the church of Jesus Christ today.
However, if you are currently in Thyatira, wake up. If you've been swayed by deceptive teachings, then hear ye the word of the Lord: "Repent and return to the foundational truths of Scripture." God's grace is sufficient to restore and renew.
O, our God, delivers us from the evil one... He who has an ear, let him hear.
