TOPIC: FILLING THE GAP
THEME SCRIPTURE: “But you will receive no honor in this venture, for the LORD’s victory over Sisera will be at the hands of a woman” (Judges 4:9 NLT). “There were few people left in the villages of Israel—until Deborah arose as a mother for Israel” (Judges 5:7, NLT).
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
1. When a leadership vacuum occurs, what are we to do as Christians?
Chaos erupts when God-given roles are abandoned. Ancient Israel, trapped under Sisera’s oppression, languished for 20 years until Deborah, a prophetess and judge, stepped into the gap. Barak, the chosen military leader, hesitated: “I will go, but only if you go with me” (Judges 4:8). His fear cost him honor, but God’s plan prevailed through Jael, an unlikely heroine.
Deborah’s leadership was not Plan B—it was divine strategy. St. Augustine saw her as a foreshadowing of the Church, writing, “Deborah… prefigured the Church, which God empowers to lead when others falter” (City of God XVIII). God’s strength shines brightest through humble, willing hearts.
Beloved, when others falter, God acts. Barak’s reluctance didn’t thwart God’s victory—it redirected the glory. Like Deborah, we’re called to rise where leadership crumbles.
Martin Luther once said, “God doesn’t need your good works, but your neighbor does.” When others shrink, your courage becomes someone’s answer to prayer.
Beloved, as we step out today, how can we fill the gap and bring hope to others?
Let us first identify the gap: Where is leadership lacking—at home, work, or community? It could even be in our own lives where we are slacking in our God-given roles.
Trust is important if we are going to make a change.
Yeah, trust in God’s strength is our sure bet if we will overcome opposition. Remember: you don’t need all the answers, just willingness (2 Corinthians 12:9). Lastly, we will need to act boldly: Like Deborah, speak truth. Like Jael, seize God-given opportunities.
Precious one, arise! Your moment to lead may not be glamorous, but it’s ordained. The harvest is waiting—will you step into the field? Will you step into the gap?
Remain blessed.

QUESTION TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
1. Where do you see a leadership gap, and what do you think can be done about it?
2. Are you willing to step into the gap if no one else will?
PRAYER
Father, when chaos reigns, stir my heart to arise. I see you using me as your instrument of order, courage, and hope in these challenging times, in Jesus' precious name. Hallelujah!
