TOPIC: WHAT DO YOU NEED?
THEME SCRIPTURE: “And in that day you shall ask Me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, whatsoever you shall ask the Father in my name He will give it to you.”– John 16:23
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Is it possible to get what we want from God?
- What did Jesus mean by ‘whatsoever’?
Many years ago, when I was a little boy, things were very tough for my mom. Being a single mother trying to raise two kids on her own. I was always the last in class to pay my bills, and it wasn't fun from one academic term to the next. The school supplied books for all students during one academic term, but parents had to pay for learning materials. I reasoned within: "If I wait for my mom, I will be the last student to have my bill settled." I hatched a plan. One of my mom’s friends is rich. I said to myself, “I will gather the courage and ask her if she can help me pay off the learning materials.” I did, and this woman agreed to help settle the bill. She called my mom and gave her the money to pay the bill one day. My mom was so embarrassed. She was lost in the whole discussion. That evening, she wept. She said she looked lost and didn't understand her friend's conversation. She felt I had lost confidence in her to cater for us. Further, that very day she had been paid and was ready to go and settle the bill. She warned me never to let that ever happen again.
That day, I understood how important it is for parents to have their children look up to them.
Precious One, Jesus mentioned to His disciples that on that day [the day they will come before the Father through His finished works], they will ask Him nothing. In other words, they will no longer look up to Him because they are before the Father. Precious One, we have also come to the Father through Jesus.
Truly, truly, if you shall ask the Father anything in the NAME OF JESUS, He will give it to you. What do you need, beloved in Christ?
It does not matter what you need the Father to do for you, as long as it does not contradict His nature, He will give it to you. It is not in God’s nature, for instance, to give someone’s wife or husband to you. Therefore He said, “Thou shalt not covet your neighbor's wife…” (Exo 20:17). Also, isn’t it shocking that God granted Satan’s request when he dared Him? (Job 1:11-12). If God granted the enemy's request, how much more you (who is born of God and whose trust is in Him)? How sad it is for God to see his people call Him "Father" and yet struggle on their own to barely meet their needs. Beloved, it is not a matter of whether God will answer you or not. What do you need? Just make your request known unto Him.
This is why Paul admonished the Corinthian believers not to glory in men because all things are ours (1 Cor 3:21).
Beloved, if only you can believe (put your trust in your Father in heaven) and ask Him what you need in the name of Jesus, you should see the glory of God (John 11:40). He who did not spare His only begotten Son but gave him up for you, how will He not also, with Him, graciously give you all things? (Rom 8:32). Ask and you shall receive, that your joy may be full. God bless you more.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- Can you believe God for the impossible?
CONFESSION
Heaven Father, according as your word has revealed to me, I affirm that all things are mine. In the name of Jesus, I ask and receive all my needs today. Are you not my Shepherd? Then I confess that I have received God’s superabundance. Hallelujah!
