TOPIC: SHARE THE GOOD NEWS EVERYWHERE EVERYDAY

THEME SCRIPTURE: Mark 16:20

 PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:

  1. As followers of Christ, who can we truly call a disciple?
  1. What is the good news or the gospel all about?
  1. Who is responsible for sending the good news out to the world?

A disciple of Jesus continues in the words and instructions of Jesus Christ (John 8:31). We should know that a disciple is different from a believer. A believer in Jesus believes in the Lord Jesus and what He stands for. Such a person acknowledges and accepts our Lord Jesus and confesses confidently to the Lordship of Jesus, and it ends there. However, a disciple (or Christ-ian) is more than a believer. A disciple not only believes in the Lord Jesus but also learns and walks in the ways of the Lord and models his life after the Master. A disciple adopts the lifestyle of Jesus.

One particular lifestyle of Jesus that every disciple must model is preaching and doing good (healing the sick and all that are oppressed by the devil) everywhere we go (Acts 10:38).

If we are disciples we need to do what the Master did – sharing the gospel everywhere we find ourselves and to everyone God brings our way. The interesting thing about sending the good news to the world is that God validates the message with signs and wonders. Undisputable evidence accompanies the good news. Isn't this beautiful? If you want to see God do wonders and miracles through you, share the gospel.

Before the Lord Jesus departed He made it our mandate to send the good news to the world (John 20:21, Matt 28:18-20). This means sending the good news to the world is not a choice. “As My Father has sent Me, even so, I have sent you”, Jesus commanded. You and I are sent. The world is a hurting place such that many people are desperate, confused, broken, and wounded. They have no hope unless we give them one.  That hope is Jesus Christ, son of the Living God. Do you know that we are God’s hope in bringing hope (Jesus) to this hurting world? – Matt 10:8. God will not use angels to send this hope to this hurting world but you and me. What a privilege. Precious one, it is a great feeling to know that we are God's hope in bringing hope to this world. What a blessing.

Since we are God's hope in bringing hope to this hurting world, as followers of Christ, we can’t be timid when it comes to preaching the gospel to people in the marketplace, schools, buses, workplaces, friends and family members.

Unless our personal lives are not portraying the Jesus we want to preach. Or we are more concerned about eloquence and the feelings of the people we are to send the gospel to. From today going forward I see you rising up to the task of the Great Commission; bringing light to those in darkness and hope to mankind. Glory to God!

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:

  1. Is there anything in your life that bothers your conscience and as a result you are unable to share the gospel?
  2. Do you choose today to live a life of seeing everyone who comes your way as a divine opportunity to share the gospel with?

CONFESSION

Precious Father, thank you for the mandate of the Great Commission. My life has a purpose because I am sent by God. I see myself walking in this mandate to the glory of God. I affirm that signs and miracles are accompanying me as I share the good news of Christ. Am I not the light of this world? The people in darkness are receiving the light of God through me, in Jesus' Precious name. Hallelujah!
