TOPIC: JUST COME NEAR 

THEME SCRIPTURE : "Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. 'I am willing,' he said. 'Be clean!'" — Mark 1:41 (NIV)

PREPARATORY QUESTION 

1. Am I bringing every part of my brokenness to Jesus, believing that He is both able and willing to restore me?

The man with leprosy lived on the margins of society. His disease had robbed him of health, community, and dignity. Declared ceremonially unclean, he was isolated from family, worship, and everyday life. Yet when he heard that Jesus was near, he refused to let his condition keep him away.

Falling on his knees, he made a simple but profound request: "If you are willing, you can make me clean."

His words revealed confidence in Christ's power but uncertainty about His willingness. Jesus answered both. Stretching out His hand, He touched the man and said, "I am willing. Be clean!" Immediately, the leprosy disappeared.

This encounter reveals the heart of Christ. Before healing the disease, Jesus crossed a barrier that no one else would. He touched the untouchable. In a culture where people avoided lepers, Jesus moved toward one with compassion. His touch restored more than physical health; it affirmed the man's worth and demonstrated God's mercy.

Restoration begins when we stop hiding our deepest wounds and bring them honestly before Jesus. Sin, shame, disappointment, and brokenness often convince us that we are too far gone or too unworthy for God's attention. But the compassion of Christ tells a different story. He is willing to receive those who come to Him in faith.

Like the leper, we must approach Jesus with humility. We cannot heal ourselves or cleanse our own hearts. Only Christ can do what human effort never could. His grace not only forgives; it restores. His mercy not only covers our past; it gives us a new beginning.

A heart seeking restoration no longer lives in isolation from God. It draws near with confidence, knowing that Christ welcomes those who seek Him sincerely. Those who have experienced His cleansing become living testimonies of His compassion and power.

PRAYER 

Heavenly Father, thank You for the compassion You have shown me through Jesus Christ. Thank You that You do not turn away those who come to You in faith. Cleanse my heart from every sin, remove every barrier that separates me from You, and restore what has been broken by Your grace. Help me to live with confidence in Your mercy and to extend that same compassion to others. May my life reflect the transforming power of Your love and bring glory to Your name. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
