TOPIC : TRANSFORMATION BY GOD ALONE

THEME SCRIPTURE: “Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.’” — John 3:5

PREPARATORY QUESTION

1. Why is it that man, full of corruption, cannot change himself even if he decides to?

Jesus continues, but He does not simplify the message. Instead, He deepens it: entry into God’s kingdom requires being “born of water and the Spirit.” This points to a transformation that is both visible and invisible— external expression and internal renewal held together.

Water suggests cleansing, repentance, a decisive turning. It is the outward acknowledgment that something needs to change. But Jesus does not stop there. The Spirit speaks to the *inward work of God* —the reshaping of the heart, the reordering of desires, the quiet but real formation of new life within.

We often separate these two. Some emphasize outward change—actions, discipline, visible commitment—without allowing the deeper work of the Spirit to take root. Others focus on inward experience while neglecting the tangible evidence of a changed life. Jesus holds both together. One without the other is incomplete.

Transformation that only touches behavior can become performance. Transformation that remains only internal can become *religiousity, private and stagnant*. But when the Spirit works within, it inevitably expresses itself outwardly— in decisions, relationships, and priorities.

This kind of change cannot be self-produced. You can choose to turn, to respond, to yield—but the actual renewal of the heart is God’s work. It is not forced, and it cannot be rushed. It unfolds as you remain open and responsive to Him.

The call here is not to manage appearances or chase emotional experiences. It is to invite a deeper alignment—where what is happening within you is that which is shaping how you live without.

Key Takeaway

True transformation involves both inward renewal by the Spirit and outward evidence in how you live.

Precious one, real change is both seen and unseen. And both matter. Today, ask yourself: Am I a changed person; is my unseen life affecting my seen life?

Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD

1. Which do you tend to focus on more—external behavior or internal change?

2. Where might there be a disconnect between what is happening inside you and how you live?

3. How can you create space for the Spirit to work more deeply in you?

PRAYER

God, I do not want a surface-level change. Work in me both inwardly and outwardly. Cleanse what needs to be released and renew what needs to be formed. Let Your Spirit shape my heart and let that transformation be reflected in how I live each day. I yield to Your work in me. In Jesus's precious name, Amen.
