TOPIC: WHEN YOUR FAITH COSTS YOU
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Though he slay me, yet will I hope in him.” — Job 13:15
PREPARATORY QUESTION
- If everything familiar was taken away from you, would your faith still stand?
There’s a version of faith that thrives when life is stable—when relationships are intact, opportunities are open, and obedience feels manageable. But what happens when following God starts to cost you something real?
That’s where faith gets honest.
Job eventually learned that loyalty to Christ would demand everything—reputation, comfort, even safety. This wasn’t theoretical. It was lived. And yet, he didn’t turn back.
Beloved, true faith isn’t built on convenience— it’s built on conviction.
Consider Job's situation. He lost wealth, family, health—everything that made life secure. And still, he declared trust in God. Not because it felt good. Not because it made sense. But because his faith wasn’t dependent on circumstances.
That kind of faith that lives above circumstances doesn’t collapse under loss—it clarifies.
Here’s the hard truth: if your faith only survives when life goes your way, it won’t survive long. Following Christ was never a guarantee of ease. It’s a call to surrender.
And surrender costs.
It may cost relationships that can’t follow where you’re going.
It may cost opportunities that demand compromise.
It may cost comfort as God pushes you into growth.
But what you gain is deeper—unshakable trust, refined character, and a faith that isn’t fragile.
Key Takeaway
Faith that costs you something is faith that’s becoming real.
So precious one, don’t run from costly faith. Lean into it. Because the moments that demand the most from you often produce the strongest version of you—the one that truly believes, no matter the outcome.
Remain blessed.

PRAYER
Lord, I don’t want a shallow faith that depends on comfort. Build in me a faith that stands even when it costs me. Teach me to trust You beyond what I see, feel, or understand. I choose surrender—knowing that You are worth everything. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
