TOPIC: HE IS NOT HERE
THEME SCRIPTURE: “He is not here; He has risen, just as He said.” — Matthew 28:6
PREPARATORY QUESTION
- What does it truly change in your life if Jesus is alive right now—not just historically, but presently?
The declaration “He is not here; He is risen” is not merely a statement of past victory; it is a present reality that confronts how we live today. The empty tomb is not an ornament of faith— it is its foundation. If Christ remained in the grave, then hope would be fragile and temporary. But resurrection shifts everything: it means that death does not have final authority, and neither do despair, failure, or sin.
Notice the angel’s words: “just as He said.” The resurrection is not only a miracle; it is a fulfillment.
Jesus had already spoken of this outcome—His resurrection—and it came to pass. This reminds us that God’s promises are not poetic ideals— they are reliable truths that unfold, even when circumstances seem to contradict them.
Yet the first witnesses (His Apostles) struggled to grasp it. Fear, grief, and confusion clouded their understanding when He died. In the same way, we often live as though Christ is still in the tomb— carrying burdens as if there is no victory, rehearsing anxieties as if there is no living Savior.
The resurrection of our Lord calls us to reorient our thinking. If Jesus is alive, then His authority is active, His presence is accessible, and His power is at work now.
His resurrection is also an invitation to die and resurrect with Him. The risen Christ does not remain distant; He calls His followers into a transformed life. This means we are not bound to old patterns.
What once defined us—guilt, shame, fear—no longer has ultimate control. So, new life is not just a future promise; it begins in the present through a relationship with the risen Christ.
To say “He is risen” is to accept that life cannot continue unchanged. It demands a response: trust, surrender, and a willingness to live as people shaped by resurrection reality rather than by fear.
Key Takeaway
The resurrection is not just something to believe in—it is a reality that reshapes how you live, think, and hope today.
If Christ Jesus resurrected, then you have great hope now and in the future that no matter what may come your way, you have the victory. Nothing can have dominion over you, not even death.
Glory to God.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
- Where in your life are you acting as though Christ is still absent or inactive?
- What promise of God do you struggle to trust, even though He has proven faithful?
- How would your daily choices change if you were fully convinced that Jesus is alive and present?
PRAYER
Lord, I confess that I often live as though the resurrection is distant rather than present. Help me to grasp the weight of “He is risen” in my daily life. Strengthen my trust in Your promises and reshape my thinking where fear and doubt have taken hold. Teach me to walk in the reality of Your living presence, and to reflect that life in how I think, speak, and act. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
