Topic: FAITH MOVES FORWARD

Theme Scripture: “Then the Lord said to Moses, ‘Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move forward.’” -Exodus 14:15

Preparatory Question:

  1. What step of obedience is God asking you to take today—even if the path ahead seems impossible?

When Israel stood trapped between Pharaoh’s army and the Red Sea, panic gripped the camp. Their cries echoed with fear and regret: “It would have been better for us to serve the Egyptians than to die in the wilderness!” (Exodus 14:12). But Moses, standing firm in faith, declared, “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still”. Yet God’s next instruction was startling: “Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move forward.” (v.15).

Move forward? Into the sea? That command made no sense until God split the waters.

The miracle came after their movement. Faith, in God’s economy, is never static—it’s motion in the direction of His word. The Red Sea only parted when they stepped toward what looked impossible.

Many believers today find themselves standing before their own “seas” —barriers that seem immovable, circumstances that feel final, limitations that seem daunting, and challenges known to be impossible to crack. But heaven’s command remains unchanged: Move forward. You may not see the path, but faith doesn’t need visibility— only vision. As Corrie ten Boom once said, “Faith sees the invisible, believes the unbelievable, and receives the impossible.”

God’s call to advance is not reckless; it’s redemptive. He specializes in creating roads where there were none.

When you move forward in obedience, you make room for His power to manifest. What held you back yesterday can become the very ground you walk on today.

Today, as you meditate on this devotional, you may be asking yourself, "How can you move forward in faith?"

  1. Name Your “Sea. Identify what stands between you and obedience—fear, unbelief, comfort, or doubt.
  2. Recall God’s Past Faithfulness. The God who delivered before will do it again.
  3. Take One Step Forward. Even a trembling step in faith invites divine intervention.
  4. Refuse to Retreat. Once you’ve obeyed, don’t turn back—trust the process and the promise.

Like Israel, we’re tempted to romanticize our past—our “Egypts” —because they feel predictable. But deliverance always calls us into uncharted waters. The same God who split the sea for Israel still commands, “Do not fear, for I am doing a new thing; now it springs up, do you not perceive it?” (Isaiah 43:19).

Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD

  1. What “Red Sea” stands before you that requires faith to move forward?
  1. How has hesitation kept you from witnessing God’s power?
  1. In what ways might obedience open new paths in your current situation?

PRAYER

Father, thank You for calling me to move forward even when I cannot see the way. Strengthen my faith to take steps into the unknown, trusting that You go before me. When fear whispers retreat, remind me that Your power makes a way where there is none. Today, I choose to move forward—one step, one act of faith, one obedience at a time. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
