TOPIC: PURSUING WISDOM
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star as it rose, and we have come to worship him.” — Matthew 2:2
PREPARATORY QUESTION
1. What is guiding your decisions today—knowledge alone, or wisdom that leads you to honor Christ?
Many people pursue intelligence. They read widely, develop new skills, and look for ways to sharpen their minds. Intelligence can open doors, create opportunities, and earn respect. Yet the passage in the Gospel of Matthew shows that wisdom matters far more.
Three astrologers from the East noticed a star and recognized its significance. Instead of simply analyzing it, they acted. They traveled a long distance, entered unfamiliar territory, and searched diligently until they found Jesus.
The response of the men from the East was clear: they came to bow down and present gifts fit for a king.
Their wisdom was not merely intellectual; it was expressed in action. They recognized who Jesus was and honored Him accordingly.
In contrast, others in Jerusalem had knowledge of the prophecies but did not act on them. Religious leaders could quote Scripture, yet they did not go to Bethlehem. Knowledge without response produces indifference. But wisdom responds with obedience.
The wise men remind us that recognizing truth is not enough. Wisdom requires a personal response.
When we see who Jesus truly is— King, Savior, and Lord —the appropriate reaction is reverence, surrender, and worship.
Today, people respond to Jesus in different ways. Some reduce Him to a historical teacher. Others expect Him to adjust to their preferences. But wisdom acknowledges His authority and aligns life with Him.
True wisdom begins when we give Jesus the honor He deserves, not only in words but also in how we live.
Key Takeaway
Wisdom is not just knowing about Jesus—it is responding to Him with reverence, obedience, and wholehearted devotion.
Today, if Jesus is your Lord, live to please Him. If He is your King, let your life honor Him. And worship Him throughout the day if He is your Savior.
Remain blessed.

2. What actions today can demonstrate my reverence and obedience to Him?
3. Is there an area of my life where knowledge has not yet become obedience?
PRAYER
Lord,
Help me pursue wisdom, not just knowledge. Open my eyes to recognize who Jesus truly is and give me the courage to respond with obedience and worship. Let my choices, priorities, and actions honor Him as King. Teach me to live with humility, devotion, and faithfulness each day. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
