TOPIC: NEVER TOO YOUNG, NEVER TOO LATE
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years. And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left. - 2 Chronicles 34:1-2 KJV
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Why will an eight-year-old be given the burden of a kingdom to rule?
Josiah was only eight years old when he became king. While most children that age are thinking about games, friends, or school, Josiah was handed a crown and a kingdom. The weight of leadership came early, but rather than letting his youth limit him, Josiah allowed it to shape him. Scripture tells us that while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his ancestor David.
Josiah didn’t start with power or reform—he started with pursuit. By the time he was sixteen, he understood the responsibility of his position and chose to seek the Lord wholeheartedly.
A few years later, that inward devotion led to outward action. He tore down idols, destroyed pagan shrines, and purified Judah and Jerusalem. His obedience brought renewal to an entire nation.
It’s easy to believe that age, experience, or timing disqualifies us from serving God. We tell ourselves we are too young to matter, too old to change, or too inexperienced to be useful. Josiah’s life proves otherwise. God is not limited by age—He is moved by willingness. What matters is a heart that listens and responds in obedience.
Josiah reminds us that spiritual maturity is not measured by years, but by surrender. How easily, and how deeply can you surrender to His will?
Precious one, this is today’s takeaway:
You are never too young, too old, or too inexperienced for God to work through you. If you are willing to listen and obey, He can use you—starting today.
Beloved, this year if you should seek God sincerely, He will equip you to do more than you ever imagined—right where you are, just as you are.
Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD
- Are there ways you’ve used your age or experience as an excuse to hold back from serving God?
- What would it look like for you to intentionally seek God today, as Josiah did?
- Is there something God may be asking you to remove or tear down so your life can be purified and renewed?
PRAYER
Lord, thank You for reminding me that You can use anyone who is willing. Help me not to disqualify myself because of fear, age, or insecurity. Give me a heart like Josiah’s—a heart that seeks You early, listens closely, and obeys fully. Show me how You want to use me today. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
