TOPIC: BE ROOTED IN HIM
THEME SCRIPTURE: “Blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord… he will be like a tree planted by water.” — Jeremiah 17:7–8
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What is involved when Scripture calls us to be rooted in Christ?
The pressure to grow quickly defines our age. Such that sometimes we fake the Christian life or experience to want to look big. But Scripture values depth before expansion. God’s pattern is rootedness before fruitfulness.
The prophet Jeremiah contrasts shallow trust in God with deep reliance in our walk with God.
The tree planted by water does not panic in drought. It is not under pressure because of circumstances. Because its water supply is assured all year round. - Growth anchored in God is resilient, not reactive.
Gregory the Great observed, “What grows too quickly lacks strength.” Spiritual maturity cannot be accelerated or pretended without consequence. Like the Pharisees and Sadducees in the days of John the Baptist, they were big in their attire and religious expressions. But they were shallow in the things of God. John called them a generation of vipers
God is more concerned with formation than visibility. But sometimes we are more concerned with what people see us to be than what we really are before God.
Beloved, this year, resist artificial Christian growth. Choose disciplines that deepen trust in the living God—prayer, Scripture, obedience in unseen places, compassion, soul winning, kindness, long-suffering, and more. And when you do, fruits will follow in its season.
Remain blessed.

PRAYER
Patient God,
Teach me to value depth over speed. Root my life deeply in You so that growth comes from trust, not pressure of the people. Strengthen my faith for seasons of waiting, and let my fruit be lasting and true. In Jesus’ precious name. Amen.
