TOPIC: SINGING THROUGH THE STORM
THEME SCRIPTURE: “I called upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised, and I was saved from my enemies.” — Psalm 18:3 (ESV)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Is it possible to praise God in the midst of storms and challenges?
When storms rise—emotionally, spiritually, or circumstantially—our instinct may be to panic, withdraw, or try to control the chaos. But David teaches us a better way: sing through the storm.
David didn’t wait for peace to break into praise. He worshipped in caves, under threat, while pursued by an enemy like a wild bird. His songs weren’t always tidy or cheerful—they were honest cries of faith. But in lifting his voice, his vision changed.
Worship doesn’t deny the storm. It defies the fear. It anchors our soul to truth when everything else is shifting.
It declares, “Though I am pressed, I’m not crushed. God is still good. God is still present.” John Chrysostom once wrote, “Nothing is more powerful than the man who praises God in adversity.”
Worship shifts our focus from the size of the problem to the strength of our Deliverer.
Paul and Silas knew this well. In a Philippian prison, chained and bloodied, they sang hymns to God (Acts 16:25). Their worship was louder than their pain—and it shook the earth.
When you sing through your storm, you remind your soul who your God is. You preach to your fear who your Savior is.
You declare your trust in the Infinite One. And as Paul and Silas broke their chains, you'll break chains—not just yours, but others’ too.
So worship—not because life is easy, but because God is worthy.
God bless you more.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- What storm am I facing that needs to be met with worship?
- How does singing truth help me see beyond what I feel or fear?
- Who might be encouraged by hearing my praise in the middle of pressure?
PRAYER
Lord, teach me to sing in every season—not just after the storm, but in the middle of it. Let praise rise higher than my fear. Anchor my heart in Your faithfulness, and shift my eyes to You, my Deliverer and Song. In Jesus’ precious name, Amen.
