THEME: CONFESSION WITHOUT SURRENDER

THEME SCRIPTURE: “Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say?”   Luke 6:46 (NIV)

PREPARATORY QUESTION

1. What does it mean to call someone Lord?

Many call Jesus “Lord,” but live as if He’s merely a religious figure, not the ruling King. Jesus Himself questioned the disconnect: “Why do you call Me ‘Lord’ and not obey Me?” In other words, what good is confession without yielding absolutely to Him?

Saying “Jesus is Lord” is not a password into heaven—it’s a pledge of your faithfulness to His reign.

If He is Lord, then His commands shape our choices, His Word governs our behavior, and His Spirit leads our daily walk. Anything less is lip service—and Jesus sees right through it.

Augustine wrote, “Christ is not valued at all unless He is valued above all.”

A Christianity that speaks of Christ but refuses to submit to Him is not Christianity at all.

Confession must become a lifestyle, reflecting in the way we live day-to-day. It is a daily surrender, not just a moment at the altar. True discipleship is not measured by church attendance or emotional prayers but by obedient lives—lives that reflect His Lordship in public and private.

Jesus is not impressed by hollow declarations.

He is moved by hearts that obey when no one is watching. That’s the true mark of faith: a life that lives what the mouth once confessed.

Precious One, here's the grace: Jesus calls us to repentance, not perfection. If your life has drifted from your confession, the invitation still stands—return, surrender, and obey. You may have fallen seven times trying to live up to your confession. You are not to try; you are to surrender to Him, and He will live through you. Today, turn to your Lord. There is still mercy for the wanderer and strength for the willing.

Remain blessed

QUESTION TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD

1. Does my lifestyle align with what I’ve confessed about Jesus?

2. In what area of my life am I calling Him “Lord” but not obeying?

PRAYER

Lord Jesus,  I don’t want to honor You with words while denying You with my life. Show me where I’ve withheld obedience. Give me the grace to follow You fully—not just in speech, but in truth.  Let my life be living proof that You are truly my Lord, in Jesus' precious name. Hallelujah!
