TOPIC: SILENT STONES OR SINGING SAINTS?
THEME SCRIPTURE: “I tell you, if they keep quiet, the stones will cry out.” (Luke 19:40)
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Must we worship God with all the struggles man goes through daily?
As Jesus descended the Mount of Olives, His disciples erupted in raw, unfiltered praise—a stark contrast to the Pharisees’ sterile religiosity. The religious leaders, threatened by this display, demanded silence. But Jesus’ response was revolutionary: Creation itself rebels against human apathy. If we refuse to worship, the rocks will.
C.S. Lewis wrote, “We praise what we enjoy—the delight is incomplete until expressed.”
The disciples’ cries fulfilled their purpose: to glorify God. When we withhold praise, we force creation to testify against us. The stones’ potential cry is both a promise and a warning—worship is not optional.
Precious one, why must you worship, and not remain silent? Remember: Worship defies cynicism.
The Pharisees’ attempt to suppress joy mirrors modern skepticism toward heartfelt faith. But our praise disrupts the enemy’s lies. Further, worship aligns with creation. The stars sing (Job 38:7); the seas roar (Psalm 93:3). To withhold praise is to live against the grain of the universe. Lastly, worship releases God’s glory. The disciples praised a King they thought would conquer Rome, not realizing He’d conquer death. True worship persists even when God’s plans confound us, and in it is His glory manifested.
Beloved, how can we live as heaven’s choir here on earth, glorifying our God?
Firstly, we must praise audaciously. Like the Moravian missionaries who sang hymns as they were martyred, worship without shame. Also, reject half-heartedness.
“God is not silent because He is not impressed with us,” said A.W. Tozer. “He is not impressed with us because we are silent.”
Beloved, let creation inspire you. Walk outdoors. Let the mountains’ majesty and the rivers’ rush stir your soul to echo their song. Glory to His name!
To the weary: Your faltering but sincere “Hosanna” matters more than perfect pitch.
To the cynical: Trade criticism for awe—the stones are waiting to condemn your silence.
Precious one, is it not written, “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord” (Psalm 150:6). Breathe deep—then worship. The stones are on standby, lest they take your place. Worship Him who sits on the throne forevermore.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- Would you spend time today only worshipping Him who lives forevermore?
PRAYER
Father, forgive my muted praise. Shatter my pride, my distractions, my excuses. Ignite in me a fire that drowns out the stones’ readiness to cry out. Let my life roar with unashamed worship—today and until I see You face-to-face, in Jesus’ precious name. Maranatha, come soon. Amen.
