Theme: RECONCILING THE WORLD

THEME SCRIPTURE: "To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation." - 2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV.

PREPARATORY QUESTION

  1. For what purpose has God committed unto us the word of reconciliation?

It is remarkable when Apostle Paul, by the Spirit, penned to the church in Corinth that, "All things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ and has given unto us the ministry of reconciliation." Glory to God!

God, who is the Supreme One, is the one who did the reconciliation. He took upon Himself the responsibility to reconcile us [who were alienated from Him] back to Himself. He did this through Jesus Christ. Thus, the redemptive work of Christ is God's reconciliation solution for mankind. The beauty of this scripture is that God did not just redeem us and leave us alone. Rather, everyone who has been reconciled back to God has also been given the privilege to be a minister of reconciliation. Thus, God wants to step aside for you and me to facilitate the reconciliation of the world unto Him. How are we to do this? The same way God did it. We are to use the redemptive work of Christ as the means and God as the principal. Precious One, isn't it beautiful to be given the opportunity to do what God does—reconcile parties?

To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. 2 Corinthians 5:19 KJV. Did you see that? God has committed unto us the word of reconciliation. This is the good news; the message of reconciliation. This message does not impute our trespasses or sins unto us. In other words, even though God hates sin, His focus for mankind is not to discuss our wickedness. We already know we are desperately wicked. Evil is so terrible that you can't walk in it and not know it.

So, His focus for mankind is to let us know that we don't need to be troubled about our trespasses; we don't need to worry about how we are going to scale the challenge of getting back to God.

The one whom we've sinned against has also made provision for the payment of those sins. The one whom we've been separated from has also made a way for us to get a fresh and better start easily. He's made provision for us to take on His righteousness freely. Not only that, but He's also willing to put His Spirit in us and bring us into the class of sons of God so that we can have fellowship with His son Jesus (1 Cor 1:9). This is indeed good news.

This brings Jesus's final instructions to His disciples to mind. He said, "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations [help the people to learn of Me, believe in Me, and obey My words], baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always [remaining with you perpetually—regardless of circumstance, and on every occasion], even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:19-20 AMP

Did you see that Jesus has commissioned us to go and disciple the nations, bringing them into a reconciled state with God? Oh, that we will see the privilege there is in being God's ministers of reconciliation and seize it.

Precious One, if there's something worth doing with your life, it is fulfilling your ministry of reconciliation given to you by God. From today going forward, fulfill your ministry. Remain blessed.
