TOPIC: TURN TO GOD
THEME SCRIPTURE: “And Moses said, I will turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. And when the Lord saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.” – Exodus 3:3-4
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- Did God attract Moses’ attention with the burning bush?
Moses had fled Egypt (Exo 2:15). He had murdered an Egyptian (Exo 2:12). As a fugitive, he found shelter and a wife in Midian (Exo 2:21). The Egyptian prince Moses, had to shepherd his father-in-law's flock. This while, Moses did not know that he was God’s gift to his people.
In the fullness of time, God entered Moses’ space, and it was remarkable.
God, who is great, does not show up in our lives with pomp or fanfare. God appeared to Moses in the ordinary. It was an ordinary burning bush but appeared strange or extraordinary. The leaves of the bush were not being consumed. Beloved, God has a way of revealing Himself to man. It has never been one way. Some people met Christ on their way to Damascus. Others met him in the deserts of Gaza. Angels appeared to others and told them what to do. You might have met Christ at a crusade. Others might have met Him personally in their rooms.
All these encounters involve everyday activities and yet are divinely powerful.
The all-powerful God required the full attention of Moses, who was tending Jethro’s flock. So, He gave Moses a sight to behold. A story is told of an 8-year-old daughter of an atheist who, having heard her father rant many times about how God is not real, approached him one evening. She sat on the lap of the father and asked, ‘Dad, why do you hate God so much? What has God done against you? I think He loves you and is the one who died for you. Dad, if God is not real, why are you always shouting so angrily?’ The father suddenly awoke to God’s love for him in spite of his hatred and the fact that God had never hurt anyone to resent Him. That was the turning point in the life of this atheist.
It is possible, in our fast-paced world, to focus on a few things. It is more real in today's world to have less or no attention for God.
The fact remains that God is always seeking to get our attention to counsel, instruct, direct, or encourage us. If God knows the plan for our lives, then He is the one we need to pay attention to most.
He may have sent a regular person to deliver the truth to you. But you did not recognise His voice. Or it could be that you are experiencing a tragedy. It could be His way of getting your attention by allowing it. Do you have a miracle you never thought would happen? God may be redirecting your attention. It is only by giving God your attention that He will also open up to you the divine plan for your life. When Moses responded to God, He revealed to him the next phase of his life and what he needed to do. Turn to God today in prayer and in communion with Him, and He will turn to you the pages and plans for your life. Remain blessed.

QUESTION TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- How are you seeing the move of God in the various activities going on in your life?
PRAYER
Precious Father, the plans of my life are in your hands. I turn to you today for your guidance, instructions and encouragement to pursue the next phase of my life. As you brought Moses onto the path of your plans for his life, so bring me, and keep me on the path of your plans for my life. In Jesus’ name Amen.
