TOPIC: NEVER BE ANXIOUS
THEME SCRIPTURE: Matthew 6:31-33
PREPARATORY QUESTIONS:
- What makes us worry even though we serve a living God?
- Is it possible to never worry?
Who owns tomorrow? Is it not your God?
Who can close and no one can open? Who can open and no one can close? It is our God alone. If you have this God telling you to take no thought by asking yourself, “What shall we drink or what shall we wear”, why will you do otherwise?
Anxiety is not of God. It is of the devil. Anxiety is fear in disguise because it considers the possibility of a negative outcome. If you continue to meditate on fear for a while, it will manifest in your life. Don’t give fear or anxiety a chance in your life. This is why God wants you to stop worrying about your family, job, finances, accommodation, health, etc.
Precious One, the God who has invited you to co-share the life of His beloved Son is faithful and He can be trusted (1 Cor 1:9).
This God has planned your destiny even before you were born again into Christ. How can you fail then in life? This God holds your future in His palm, who can snatch it from Him?
Often, people get worried when they realize that their options are exhausted or the available options are impotent. But this is not the case with you. You never run out of options. David realized this and said, “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble” (Psalm 46:1). God is with you at all times, ready to help you. Why must such a person like you worry? It is possible to live a life without worries. How?
You will agree that there have been times we felt we are out of options only to realize later that there are many options just that we didn’t know. Somebody came our way and pointed us to the many options and we were so amazed and also relieved. The same applies to God’s people. The Holy Scripture has a lot for us regarding what God has planned, accomplished or promised ahead of us. All we need to do is to know and be assured of them. Anxious people are often low on the Word of God.
From today, choose to be consistent with your Bible study and daily devotional and you will be amazed at how confident you will become towards the future.
Precious one, anything short of a life of absolute joy and fulfilment in Christ Jesus is not God’s best for you. Anxiety is a thief that steals away our joy and fulfilment in Christ. Rather than worry, study the word, meditate on the word, act on it and you will see God’s hand move on your behalf. You have a beautiful life in Christ; live it beautifully. God bless you more.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD:
- Are you anxious about something in your life?
- Can you find in scripture what God has said about the thing you are anxious about?
- Why don’t you meditate on those scriptures that you find and act on them accordingly?
CONFESSION
In the name of Jesus, I confess this day that in me is the abundant life which Christ alone supplies. As a result, my life can only make progress. I live above anxiety and fear because the Lord is my shepherd. I do not lack in anything because I am the heir of God. Hallelujah!
