TOPIC: RECEIVING BY GIVING

THEME SCRIPTURE:  “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over…”—Luke 6:38

PREPARATORY QUESTION

  1. Where are you withholding what God has already asked you to release?

The logic of the Kingdom is not accumulation first, but distribution first.

Jesus states a paradox that unsettles natural economics: giving is not loss—it is the condition for receiving. Not always immediately, not always visibly, but inevitably under God’s order.

Human instinct says, “Secure first, then give.” The Kingdom says, “Give, and you will receive.”

This does not mean manipulation of God through generosity. It means alignment with how God designed spiritual economy to function. Closed hands cannot carry overflow.

Many people interpret lack as a signal to hold tighter. In the Kingdom, lack is often an invitation to trust through giving.

What you withhold becomes stagnant. What you release becomes seed. And the seed only multiplies after it leaves your hand.

But this giving is not limited to money. It includes time, forgiveness, attention, honor, and obedience. Some people are financially open but relationally stingy. Others are generous in words but withholding in obedience.

God does not respond to partial generosity. He responds to surrendered stewardship.

Beloved, the phrase “pressed down, shaken together, running over” is not poetry—it is an exaggeration to communicate overflow beyond human measurement. God does not return what you give in equal form; He returns it in a transformed capacity.

Yet this paradox exposes motive. If you try to control outcomes, you will eventually become frustrated. If you give to obey God, you position yourself for fruit you did not engineer.

Key Takeaway

In God’s Kingdom, giving is not loss—it is the pathway into divine overflow.

The real question is not whether God can give back. The question is whether you trust Him enough to release what is currently in your control. It is your only means to accessing God's good measure and His overflow in your life.

Remain blessed.
