TOPIC: SET YOUR MIND ON THINGS ABOVE

THEME SCRIPTURE: "Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God." — Colossians 3:2–3 (NIV)

PREPARATORY QUESTION

1. What has been occupying your thoughts more than the presence and promises of Christ?

Where the mind settles, the life eventually follows. That is why Paul urges believers to intentionally fix their minds on things above. This is not an invitation to ignore earthly responsibilities but to approach them from a heavenly perspective.

Because our lives are hidden with Christ, our identity is no longer defined by success or failure, approval or rejection, comfort or hardship. We belong to Christ, and that reality gives stability when circumstances fluctuate. A mind anchored in heaven is not detached from life; it is directed by eternal truth rather than temporary conditions.

Our thoughts shape our attitudes, decisions, and responses. When we dwell on fear, resentment, or worldly measures of success, our spiritual vision becomes clouded. But when we meditate on God's character, His promises, and His purposesour hearts become aligned with His will. We begin to value what He values and pursue what brings lasting fruit.

Renewing the mind is not a one-time event but a daily discipline. It requires choosing God's truth over discouraging emotions, Scripture over misleading voices, and faith over appearances. As we consistently set our minds on Christ, He transforms the way we live, love, serve, and endure.

Key Takeaway

A life that consistently reflects Christ begins with a mind that is consistently focused on Him.

Today, guard what captures your attention. Let God's Word shape your thinking before the world shapes it for you. A heavenly mindset does not remove earthly challenges, but it equips you to face them with wisdom, hope, and unwavering confidence in Christ.

Remain blessed.

QUESTIONS TO HELP YOU MEDITATE ON THE WORD

1. What thoughts have been competing for my attention and affection?

2. In what area of my life do I need to replace worldly thinking with God's truth?

3. What practical habit can help me keep my mind fixed on Christ each day?

PRAYER

Father, teach me to set my mind on things above and not to be governed by temporary circumstances. Renew my thinking through Your Word and help me see every situation through the lens of Your truth. Guard my heart from distractions that pull me away from You, and shape my thoughts so that my life reflects the character of Christ. May my mind remain steadfast because it is fixed on You. In Jesus' name, Amen.
