TOPIC: NO EXCUSES BEFORE THE KING
THEME SCRIPTURE: "And the Lord said unto him, Who hath made man's mouth? or who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the Lord ? [12] Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say." — Exodus 4:11-12
PREPARATORY QUESTION
- What excuse have you been using to avoid the work God has clearly called you to do?
When God calls, people often respond with excuses. Moses did.
Standing before the burning bush, Moses did not lack clarity. He lacked willingness. He argued that he was not eloquent, not confident, and not qualified. In response, God asked a piercing question: “Who has made man's mouth?” (Exodus 4:11).
The issue was never Moses' ability. The issue was Moses' trust.
Believers today continue the same pattern. We claim we are too busy, too inexperienced, too timid, too old, too young, too educated, or not educated enough. We point to our limitations as though they surprise God.
Yet Scripture repeatedly shows God accomplishing extraordinary things through ordinary people. The Lord chose fishermen to shake nations. He chose a shepherd boy to defeat a giant. He chose a reluctant prophet to confront a city. God has never depended on human adequacy.
Paul reminds us, “God chose what is weak in the world to shame the strong” (1 Corinthians 1:27). The power has always belonged to God. Obedience is our responsibility.
Many Christians spend years waiting to feel qualified before they obey. That day never comes. God does not call the equipped; He equips the called. If confidence were the requirement, few people in Scripture would have been useful.
The truth is uncomfortable: many excuses that sound humble are actually disguised unbelief. We say, "I can't," when God says, "I will be with you." We focus on our weakness while ignoring His sufficiency.
God is not asking whether you possess everything necessary. He is asking whether you will trust Him enough to take the first step.
Key Takeaway
God is not limited by your weakness, but your excuses can prevent you from experiencing His power at work through your life.
So stop rehearsing your limitations. Stop magnifying your fears. Stop presenting excuses that God has already answered in His Word.
Beloved, the King who calls you knows exactly who you are. He knows your strengths, weaknesses, failures, and insecurities. Yet He still calls. His command is not based on your capability but on His authority.
Your obedience only begins where your excuses end.
Remain blessed.

PRAYER
Father, forgive me for the excuses I have used to resist Your call. Too often I have focused on my weaknesses instead of Your greatness. Help me to trust Your presence, rely on Your strength, and obey Your voice. Deliver me from fear, self-doubt, and unbelief. Give me the courage to take the next step You are placing before me. May my life demonstrate that Your power is made perfect in weakness. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.
